Engineering Vehicles for Efficient Materials Handling

If you’re in charge of a construction or industrial project with substantial material transportation challenges, you have a number of equipment options for getting the job done.

For scooping and shoveling of large volumes of loose material, a skid steer loader is often the preferred machine. Equipped with a large lifting bucket, these engineering vehicles can pick up big piles of dirt, debris, gravel, sand, cement, and other material and quickly transport it to a storage location, point of use, or truck bed.

For digging out compacted or embedded material in a foundation, pit, or trench, a full size or mini excavator is frequently the device of choice. Excavators boast a long, extendible arm with a bucket attachment at the end that can really dig into hard-packed soil thanks to powerful hydraulics.

On the other hand, if your materials challenges involve pre-packaged, pallet-loaded goods at a warehouse or loading dock, then a reliable forklift is what you’ll need. Forklifts are designed for the sole purpose of lifting and lowering on their fork attachments to and from trucks, shelving, storage locations, and other facilities. For indoor locations, an electric forklift is usually the best choice, while outdoor jobs can be serviced by either an electric or gas forklift.
